Health & Social Care Quality Management

My working knowledge of Adult Social Care (ASC) spans over 20 years both on the front line as a CQC registered Nursing Home manager, operationally in commissioning and contract management in local government, to a more strategic joint commissioning and quality improvement role in the NHS. The experiences of working within and alongside Adult Social Care, including leading the Health input for 3 large scale enquiries, gives me a unique insight into the impact of market complexity, funding and policy decisions.

For nearly a decade as Quality Manager Social Care covering 3 counties and 5 local authorities gave me the ability to work with a range of Providers, Adult Social Care Operational Managers, Councillors, Communication Teams, and other stakeholders.

Employing dynamic risk assessment skills in my work with stakeholders (e.g. Police, Fire services, Home Office) and Adult Social Care teams in dealing with poor quality care provision and how Provider suspensions affect market capacity, impact on assessment and placement waiting time.

My experience of managing teams spans over 25 years: as a Business Manager in the private sector; as a Local Authority Contracts Manager managing public sector budgets and delivering savings across 5 years using a continuous improvement approach. As a registered care manager, I led teams of up to 200 staff with £5m turnover.

My management approach has always been that of a facilitator and coach, promoting inclusive working via flexibility and encouraging colleagues to work to their strengths and develop learning opportunities.

My systematic approach to work comes from Prince 2 project management methodology, and developed as a NHSE Quality, Service Improvement & Redesign trainer.  My former responsibility for a Learning from Lives and Deaths of People with Learning Disabilities and Autism (LeDeR) programs, gives me unique understanding of complex care packages, how ASC interlinks with the AACCC Framework and informs implementation of our learning to promote innovation in supported living.

Our service brings your organisation the relationship skills and project experience of working in and with Adult Social Care at a national level, supporting colleagues to reach their best potential, whilst delivering sustainable and far-reaching programmes of work that will make a difference to the quality of life of our adults in care and your business potential.
